Initial Land Walk
Congrats! We’ve had our Consultation and we’ve gotten to know each other a bit better! So what’s next?
Time to get feet on the ground! We’ve gotten to know you but it’s time for us to get to know your land! This walk will allow us to really get a feel for what we are working with. This will inform us as to how best to proceed with a design and what we should do to really get to know your land.
-
Biodiversity Report
Time to get in the weeds! This is where we get real down and dirty! So you’ve walked us through your property, it’s time for us to explore. This report takes us a bit longer and takes a bit more involvement so we won’t ask you to accompany us as we may quite literally get in the mud.
Our aim here is to truly unlock the secrets of your land for you to find what treasures are hiding. This is vital as this stage informs how we do the rest of our jobs, Here we will identify native, rare and endangered and invasive harmful plants on your property and we will help you determine the kinds of habitats your land has which can inform you about the wildlife you steward.
*This can be performed seasonally or annually if desired.
-
Condition Report
There is a saying, “Right Plant, Right Place”
Planting or growing anything is all about placement. For a sustainable and low maintenance design, it is important to know the conditions you are growing in. This report enables us to give you the information you need for the plants you want to grow and those suitable to grow on your land. This report informs us as to where your land is and helps us figure out how to get it to where you want it.
By finding out factors such as Topography, Hydrology, Wind & Solar Conditions and other characteristics, we can learn the personality of your land. This report may require us to walk the land for sample collection and to account for manmade or climatic changes in the land.
-
Land Stewardship Report
Now that we have met your land and gotten to know its spirit a bit more, let’s talk about how to take care of it. Whether you want a food forest, a farm or to rehabilitate and conserve the land, let’s talk about what that takes.
Through our land surveys we can help you understand your lands needs to be healthy and what can realistically be accomplished based on how it behaves.
In this report, we will tell you what parts of your land should be conserved, preserved or restored. We will help you understand the habitats on your land and what steps you may want to take to effectively environmentally and sustainably steward it.
*This report requires a Biodiversity & Condition Assessment prior.
-
The Story of Your Land
This is our Premium Land Reading where, through the combination of our Biodiversity & Condition Reports coupled with research into your land and semiotics we can paint a picture for you of its history and spirit.
By aging the trees and reading the signs of the land we can tell you the story of what has happened and paint a picture for the trees as people who have lived full lives and store the memory of the land and its creatures on it.
We will reveal to you things that the old trees know and the secrets the land is begging to share with you about the web of life that you are steward to.
-
Planting Report
This report is a bit more than your traditional plant list. Here we will give you an idea of what your land can support as it stands in present day, and what it could grow in the future based on factors such as soil amendment, earthworks, water catchment and succession planning.
We will help you to know what plants can be grown and by breaking your land down into zones we will help you to understand where best those plants would thrive.
*Biodiversity & Condition Reports are preliminary.
